We began a reading plan as a church in 2023!
This is an exciting opportunity for several reasons.
- The church reading from the same place at the same time will naturally foster organic conversations about what we have been reading.
- Often times beginning a new discipline is unsuccessful because we fail to seek out partners who can hold us accountable and help us to get back on track when we don't hit the target we desire for ourselves. Reading the Bible as a community offers that naturally built-in accountability that we all need.
Beyond that - we really like the reading plan we've picked out for this year.
- It uses a chronological approach making the narrative of God's redemptive work easy to follow. With that said, it isn't strictly chronological resulting in not getting to the New Testament until September. Each day includes a reading from the Old Testament and the New Testament.
- It has white space and margin built into the plan. I don't know about you but there are few things that I consistently do every single day. We need room for life to happen if we're going to be successful. That's why each month includes 25 days of reading. You can use Sunday to study something of interest or meditate on the sermon text.
You can have the Bible read to you by Bro. Derrick.
